Moorfields has been piloting CLEARnotes AI-powered ambient dictation across five services (A&E, Adnexal, Ocular Oncology, Uveitis, VR), and the early results are very encouraging.
– Admin time cut by over 7 minutes per consultation (average 10 mins → just 3 mins)
– Faster, more efficient workflows — with typing and letter-writing time reduced by more than two-thirds
– Positive clinician feedback — staff report a smoother experience and reduced admin pressure
– Capacity gains — freeing up time to see more patients

The pilot has already achieved key milestones in governance, clinical safety, and IT integration. Backed by NHS England funding, the programme has now been extended until December 2025, giving more time to demonstrate the benefits.
This is helping Moorfields Eye Hospital provide more equity for all clinical staff to have access to dictation. By reducing paperwork and boosting productivity, CLEARnotes has proven to help Moorfields clinicians spend less time on admin — and more time with patients.
